A Christmas message from the UAC Chairman

Members and Friends

On behalf of the Club Council I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support during 2016.

I am delighted to inform you that 2016 was an incredibly successful one for us; many of you may already know that we achieved 3rd place in the MSA/JLT Club of the Year Awards; missing out on second place by the narrowest of margins. This outcome is a direct result of your hard work, dedication and overcoming a myriad of challenges to promote and organise events in a range of disciplines at the highest of levels. This and other deserved awards will be presented at the ANICC dinner on 21st January 2017, thank you one and all!

I am also very honoured to announce that Wilson Carson, Vice Chairman was awarded first place in the Clerks/Stewards category of Volunteer of the year, true recognition of his many years of dedication to the sport across a wide variety of disciplines – very proud – well done Wilson. The Club also nominated Robert Harte who earned second place for his safety videos for rallies, congratulations Robert.

Millions of people around the world watched Craig Breen live as he completed back to back wins on the ‘Circuit’ creating yet another first and a magnificent success story for the event and the Club. The resurrection of Knockagh Hill Climb was another tremendous triumph and we have taken on yet another challenge for 2017; the New Year Stages Rally on the 28th of January at Kirkistown. Come and join us for some serious early season fun and games!

Once again these achievements wouldn’t be possible without the commitment , perseverance and willingness of your – our volunteers, many of whom make their annual ‘glamorous’ appearance in the Club calendar; due to be circulated very soon; look out for the caption competition and maybe even win a bottle of wine!

2017 sees the Club, in association with the MSA, ANICC and other bodies, continuing the drive to ensure all officials are trained and licenced to perform their duties to the highest safety standards possible. We are planning a number of training events during the year so please visit the website and Facebook for more details.

The Club are always keen to have new members join our ranks to help organise and marshal all our events making sure they are as safe as possible for competitors and spectators alike. Our 2017 membership form is on the website which is also linked to our Face book page. When you complete it,   please return your renewal / application with your payment to the appropriate address on the form. Once that’s done you’ll get a nice new membership card and a 2017 calendar!!

Alternatively you could bring the form with you to our final event of the year, It’s Not the Boxing Day Rally. This year again we have a bumper entry of 140 cars of all shapes and sizes starting the event- well worth a visit to enjoy a superb day of driving displays in and around the greater Lisburn Area.

Please drive safely, enjoy the festivities and may your Christmas sparkle with joy and happiness and all your dreams come true in 2017.
